Week 44: Incorporate leaves onto your page in a creative way
This challenge had me baffled for about a week as I looked around my Florida neighborhood at all of the Palm Trees and GREEN leaves. Don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful and well what’s not to love about Florida? But sometimes I just want to feel the seasons change and go jump in a pile of leaves!
I looked around my studio and still no inspiration. Then it occurred to me to create my own autumn leaves! I whipped out my handy Speedball Linoleum Carving Set and some Linoleum and carved myself a little stamp. This was a simple design and only took about 15 minutes to carve.
I created some background paper using some paint and stencils on a piece of graph paper from a Gold Fibre Computation Notebook then stamped my images using a Jet Black StazOn ink pad.
I love the result! It’s not quite the falling Autumn leaves I had in mind, but I love those happy little accidents – Serendipity! And look at my book – there aren’t many pages or challenges left . . . thank goodness we have The Documented Life Project 2015 coming up! You can find out all about it on November 1st at Arttothe5th.com. Looking forward to seeing your leaves this week!
