I’ve picked up my sketchbook once again and committed to a daily sketch {once again}. Inspired by the greats like Danny Gregory, Tommy Kane, Melanie Reim, Brenda Swensen and more . . . I am encouraged to keep pushing!
Last week, I was enjoying an art retreat with my dear friends, Rae Missigman, Sandi Keene and Roben-Marie Smith and they were intrigued by the drawing process so I happily gave them some sketching lessons! We all have different styles of creating art, so it was thrilling to know that they wanted to learn some of the things that I do! I am happy to see that they all are working hard at practicing and keeping up their sketchbooks. I love to share the little bit that I know . . . art is meant to be spread around! I have studied and learned from so many great artists and feel fortunate enough to have the background and knowledge to help others. I hope you enjoy a little peek into my daily sketchbook!
For my Every Day Matters Sketchbook, I use the Global Arts Square Notebook – just a little 6″x6″ I can carry around with me and my beloved Pitt Pens by Faber Castell. I don’t typically draw in pencil first – I go straight for the ink and embrace my mistakes! For my watercolors, I use the Schmincke Horadam Watercolor Set but you don’t have to go right for the pricey ones at first. The Sakura Koi Watercolor Set is the perfect size to carry around and is not a huge investment. Plus it has purple which most sets don’t, so that’s always a good thing!
And PS – coming soon . . . I’m preparing a little sketching lesson class to help get others started too! Stay tuned!
